"It's all about the mud and the wind"

“It’s all about the mud and the wind”

“It’s all about the mud and the wind” is a mini textile screen-print collection focusing on the use of natural dye processes. Fabric colours consist of red cabbage, madder root, turmeric, Persian berries, and cochineal dyes and print pastes used for screen-printing.  This collection is to reflect the issues about ocean pollution, and the use of harmful chemical dyes that are being used within the textile fashion industry, and their effect on ocean wildlife.

Initial inspirations were drawn from the mood and atmosphere from “Picnic in Hanging Rock”, “Room with a View” and “Pride and Prejudice”. Researching the romanticism of running through the long straw grass of the British countryside, appreciating the beauty of coastal and ocean wildlife, as well as the freedom, fantasy, and escapism from the city to coastal country living.
